It’s YOUR money. Protect it!
Pay attention everyone! – The bad guys are out there! If it sounds too good to be true– it is likely NOT TRUE. If you get a request for money – double check it.
You might have recently heard about an attack on Twitter where if you sent in Bit Coin the amount would be doubled in 30 minutes; $100,000 dollars later – no one got paid back. Total scam, Twitter was hacked
I recently came across a Facebook message (paraphrasing here):
“I have been alerted to the fact that “name redacted” is using my profile picture and name
to solicit money for “redacted” stating this is a Rotary program. This is false and a scam….”
In a Denver suburb last year, a city built a million dollar bridge. Someone saying they were the contractor send in an invoice to wire the payment to an account. County clerk wired the money. Yup, you guessed it. Money gone!
Folks, please be careful. Don’t wire money, don’t send a check, don’t click on a link online unless you know who it is. If you receive an email asking you to send money – check, check and check again. Call someone. If it doesn’t smell right – check it out.
